IBM,Lotus Symphony Office 1.0

Ofis uygulamarı konusunda BT sektörüne destek olmayı hedefleyen Lotus, yazılım ailesine bir yenisini daha ekledi. Eylül 2007′de beta olarak sunulan Lotus Symphony, Haziran ayı itibariyle 1.0 versiyonu ile kullanıcılar ile buluştu. Lotus bu ürünü ile güvenli bir iş ortamı yaratmayı hedeflemekle birlikte IT yatırımlarını aşağı çekmeyi planlıyor. Symphony çözümü ile firmalara kısıtlı IT bütçelerini katma değerli yazılım çözümlerine aktarma olanağı sağlıyor.

Yapılan açıklamaya göre 20.000 çalışanı bulunan bir firma Lotus Symphony kullandığında alternatiflerine göre 8 milyon dolar lisans gideri ve 4 milyon dolar yazılım güncelleme üzerinden tasarruf sağlamış oluyor. Linux ve Windows platformlarında çalışabilen Symphony, çok yakın bir zamanda Mac OS desteği de vermeye başlayacak. Open Office’den sonra hayatımıza bir uygulama daha girmiş oldu. Tabi arkasında IBM ve Lotus gibi markaların olması bu ürüne güvenirliliği oldukça arttırıyor.

Symphony uluslararası standart kurumunun kabul ettiği open document formatını (ODF) desteklemekte. ODF desteğinin yanındaa Lotus Symphony’i MS Office’in dosyaları ile tam entegre çalışıyor.
